Understanding Reliability Performance

A reliable electricity system is defined not only by how rarely outages occur, but also by how effectively service is restored when they do. Together, outage frequency and duration provide valuable insight into the performance, resilience, and responsiveness of the distribution system.

Outage Frequency

For most customers, reliable electricity means not having to think about it. In 2025, customers experienced just over two sustained outages on average, underscoring the strength of Synergy North’s distribution system. Behind this performance are ongoing investments in infrastructure, proactive maintenance programs, and a commitment to continuously improving reliability for the communities that depend on us every day.

Outage Duration

Power interruptions were limited in 2025, with customers experiencing an average of approximately 47 minutes without electricity over the course of the year, and most outages were resolved quickly. This strong performance reflects a reliable distribution system and Synergy North’s commitment to minimizing customer impacts through proactive infrastructure maintenance, efficient outage response, and ongoing investments that help keep powering the communities we serve.

Understanding Power Outages

Providing reliable electricity to the communities we serve is at the center of what we do at Synergy North. While our distribution system is highly reliable, outages can occasionally occur due to severe weather, equipment failures, or unexpected events such as construction activity, wildlife contact, and motor vehicle accidents.

When outages happen, Synergy North crews respond quickly and safely to restore power and minimize disruptions for customers across our service territory. By understanding the causes of outages, we can identify trends, target investments, and continue strengthening the reliability and resilience of the electricity system for the communities that depend on it every day.

The chart below outlines how many outages fell under each category last year:
