SYNERGY NORTH Reminds Customers to Dig Safe this Spring with New Video Campaign
With home outdoor projects well underway, SYNERGY NORTH is unveiling its Dig Safe video campaign to remind customers about the do’s and don’ts of digging safely on their property. If spring landscaping or decorating plans include planting a tree, building a deck or fence, or simply digging with a shovel, customers are reminded to contact Ontario One Call to arrange a free underground cable locate so they know what’s below.
Important infrastructure, including telecommunication cables, electricity wires, natural gas lines, water mains and sewer lines, are often buried underground. By clicking or calling Ontario One Call before beginning any outdoor project, homeowners can ensure their safety and prevent possible interruption of services.
“Contacting Ontario One Call before you dig is not just good practice, it’s also the law,” explains Bob Zappitelli, SYNERGY NORTH Program Engineer. “Damaging underground services can potentially cause severe injuries, such as electrocution. The homeowner or contractor could be liable for expensive restoration costs and potential legal actions.”
Homeowners and contractors can request a free locate online by going online to OntarioOneCall.ca or calling 1-800-400-2255. SYNERGY NORTH will receive the request and provide an underground cable locate at no charge during normal working hours within five (5) working days from your request.
Customers are encouraged to view the new video and refresh their knowledge on digging safely by visiting synergynorth.ca/dig.
