Ontario Government Pausing Electricity Rates for Industrial Conservation Initiative Customers

July 8, 2020 – The Government of Ontario is providing support for large industrial and commercial companies to return to full levels of operation by providing more stable electricity pricing for the next two years. Effective immediately, Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) participants are not be required to anticipate and reduce their electricity usage during peak hours, as their proportion of Global Adjustment (GA) charges will be frozen.

Class A customers will maintain their peak demand factor from the 2019-2020 base period to determine their Global Adjustment charges in July 2021 to June 2022 adjustment period. For additional information about this announcement, please visit the Independent Electricity System Operator website.
