SYNERGY NORTH Announces Ontario Energy Board Approval of Rate Decisions
Thunder Bay, ON – The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved local distribution revenue, transmission, and regulatory rates for SYNERGY NORTH Corporation. These adjustments, effective May 1, 2024, are part of the ongoing effort to ensure the sustainability and reliability of electricity services provided to customers in Thunder Bay and Kenora.
Currently maintaining two rate zones, Thunder Bay and Kenora, SYNERGY NORTH Corporation has harmonized its rates, which results in uniform rates for all customers. The resulting impact on customer bills will be an increase of $2.75 or 2.2% for Thunder Bay residential bills and a decrease of $2.51 or 1.9% for Kenora residential bills.
These changes will take effect for electricity consumers as of May 1, 2024, and will be reflected on most bills by the end of the month. To assist customers in understanding and choosing the electricity pricing plan that best meets their needs, SYNERGY NORTH has resources and tools available on the MyENERGY portal, that can be accessed by visiting synergynorth.ca. Residential customers can choose between Time-of-Use (TOU), Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO), and Tiered prices for their electricity consumption. These options empower customers to make informed decisions about their energy usage and billing preferences.
SYNERGY NORTH encourages any customer who has questions about their bill to reach out. The SYNERGY NORTH customer service team is available to address any questions or concerns regarding billing inquiries, energy conservation tips, and personalized solutions tailored to individual needs.
SYNERGY NORTH Corporation remains dedicated to maintaining transparent and equitable electricity rates. The review and approval process by the Ontario Energy Board ensures that rates align with the expenses associated with generating, purchasing, and maintaining the electricity grid.
Meanwhile, electricity prices in Ontario will remain unchanged this May. The prices are set by the OEB twice a year in May and November. However, Time Of Use price periods will shift from winter to the summer period, altering peak hours to weekdays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
