Thunder Bay, ON – A severe weather event has caused significant damage to the electrical infrastructure on Coney Island in Kenora, resulting in a prolonged power outage for customers in the area. Fallen trees have damaged hydro poles and brought down primary lines, leaving approximately 100 customers without electricity since yesterday evening.
SYNERGY NORTH crews were dispatched immediately and have been working steadily to assess the damage and continue restoration efforts. The remote location, combined with the storm’s impact, has made restoration more complex. Transporting materials and equipment to the island takes additional time, and crews are doing everything they can to restore service safely and efficiently.
At this time, power restoration is expected to be complete by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.
SYNERGY NORTH has allocated all available resources to this restoration effort and appreciates the patience and understanding of affected customers. Safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to restoring power as quickly and safely as possible. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
