SYNERGY NORTH Rate Changes Coming this Spring
April 16, 2025
For Immediate Release
Thunder Bay, ON – As SYNERGY NORTH Corporation continues to meet the electricity needs of our customers, a rate adjustment has been approved by the Ontario Energy Board.
The rate adjustment is calculated using an OEB approved formula which is tied to inflation and other factors to promote efficiency.
The resulting overall impact on customer bills will be an increase of $4.54 or 3.57% on Thunder Bay residential bills, and an increase of $5.86 or 4.66% on Kenora residential bills.
Monthly customer electricity bill impacts for the rate order are as follows:
Thunder Bay | Kenora | |||
Overall % monthly | Overall $ monthly | Overall % monthly | Overall $ monthly | |
Residential Customer 750 kWh / month | + 3.57% | + $4.54 | + 4.66% | + $5.87 |
Small Business Customer 2000 kWh / month | + 3.28% | + $10.79 | + 3.54% | + $11.59 |
* This change does not factor in applicable taxes or the Ontario Electricity Rebate.
These changes will take effect for electricity consumers as of May 1, 2025, and will be reflected on most customer bills by the end of May. Time-of-Use (TOU), Tiered prices and Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) pricing will also transition to Summer Time rate periods on the same date.
