Synergy North Customers to Receive Lower Rates in Response to COVID-19
Thunder Bay, ON- Synergy North customers will see a decrease in electricity rates as announced by Premier Doug Ford, alongside Minister of Energy Greg Rickford today.
Effective today, the Government of Ontario is reducing electricity rates for residential and small business customers to provide financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Customers will see a transition to off-peak time-of-use rates for the next 45 days; in support of many Ontarians who are working from home, are self-isolating or are facing unemployment.

Starting today, electricity rates will be adjusted to equal the current off-peak rate of 10.1 cents per kilowatt-hour; in comparison to present mid-peak and on-peak rates; 14.4 cents and 20.8 cents per kilowatt-hour, respectively. It is anticipated that the rate adjustment will on average save residential customers more than $15 per month on their electricity bill, but will depend on total consumption and consumption behaviours.

Additionally, the current disconnection ban will be further extended for customers beyond the previously announced date, to July 31, 2020.
